In the late 1980's, Southern Oregon Arabian Horse Association
and Rogue Valley Half Arabian Horse Association joined together to create one
club, Pacific Crest Arabian Horse Association. The new club would continue the
tradition of sponsoring the annual fall show, the Pacific Royal Autumn Classic
held in Grants Pass, Oregon.
The Pacific Royal Autumn Classic was one of the biggest and
most successful Arabian shows on the west coast. Arabian horse owners and
trainers from all over the west would come to qualify for the Region 4 show and
go on to the National Arabian show held in October. This 3 day show attracted
National Champions and family show horses to compete for the first place ribbon
in their division.
Today, the PRAC show is in it's 33rd year. The location has
changed to Central Point, just 20 minutes south of Grants Pass, but the
atmosphere is the same: Arabian horse lovers of all levels showing their
beautiful horses.
In 2007, after much discussion, the club voted to change the
name to Rogue Valley Arabian Horse Association. There was much confusion with
Pacific Crest in the name due to several clubs on the west coast using similar
names. Since we are based in the Rogue Valley, it seemed an obvious choice.
